What data do we collect?Snowball helps you to manage notifications on your phone -- it’s a single place to see a beautiful, useful, intelligent view of all the messages from mobile apps.
In order to provide this service we access, collect, and organize the following information:
We use this information to provide the Snowball service. A subset of this information is stored on Snowball servers and can be removed upon request.
Snowball is an Android service, which means that it’s running and collecting data from the moment it’s first started until it’s uninstalled from your device.
Notification Access
Snowball functions by retrieving notifications from your system notification tray and re-organizing them in the Snowball interface. For this to work we request that you opt into Notification Access(accessible under Settings > Security > Notification access). The product will not function without this permission granted.
Note that you may disable this permission at any time, though Snowball will cease to function.
Third Party ServicesOur policy does not cover third party services. For Snowball, these services include Hockeyapp and Amplitude. To learn about their practices please visit their policies.

Personal Information SecurityWe take reasonable steps to help protect your personal information in an effort to prevent loss and misuse as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction.
Changes to this PolicyWe may change this Policy from time to time. If we make any changes to this Policy, we will change the "Last Updated" date above. After such changes have been published to our website, your continued use of Snowball will constitute your acceptance of such revised policy.
Sharing your personally identifiable data with third partiesWe will not disclose your personally identifiable data to third parties unless (1) you have given explicit consent to each such disclosure (for example, to a third party payment processor), (2) we are required to comply with a legal obligation (and in this case, we will provide you notice unless we’re prevented by law from doing so) or (3) if our business or assets, or parts of them, are acquired by a third party. Third parties who receive your personally identifiable data will be bound by applicable data protection legislation and/or this privacy policy concerning the disclosed data.
In order to provide you with an engaging and personalized experience, we use Quettra’s Personalization Technology to aid our own efforts. When you download, install and use our application, you acknowledge the integration of third party services by us and agree to be bound by the privacy policies of our partners. - Profile photos, email addresses, and names from your phone’s contact database.

- android.permission.DISABLE_KEYGUARD: Needed to show notifications on the lockscreen.
- android.permission.CALL_PHONE: Needed to enable answering phone calls from Snowball.
- android.permission.READ_PHONE_STATE: Needed to show the Snowball phone call widget.
- android.permission.READ_CONTACTS: We use email addresses, and names from your phone’s contact database to find a suitable photo for a notification if an incoming notification does not provide one.
- android.permission.RECEIVE_SMS: We load your SMS messages into Snowball using this permission in a more reliable way than would be possible from only reading notifications.
- android.permission.READ_SMS & android.permission.RECEIVE_MMS: Needed to show MMS messages in Snowball.
- android.permission.WRITE_SMS: Needed to support SMS reply in Snowball.
- android.permission.CAMERA, android.permission.FLASHLIGHT, android.permission.ACCESS_WIFI_STATE, android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, android.permission.CHANGE_WIFI_STATE, android.permission.CHANGE_NETWORK_STATE, android.permission.BLUETOOTH, android.permission.BLUETOOTH_ADMIN, com.android.alarm.permission.SET_ALARM: All needed to show the Snowball status bar and support Snowball settings.
- android.permission.WAKE_LOCK: Needed to ensure analytics can be gathered.
- android.permission.EXPAND_STATUS_BAR: Need to debug issues with Snowball.
- android.permission.READ_CALENDAR, android.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION: Needed to show Uber and Lyft time estimates and fare estimates.
- android.permission.GET_TASKS: We detect what apps you are using at a given time to determine and, in the future, suggest app notifications that should be muted or hidden based on your actual app usage.
